Artist Statement: "This piece is dedicated to a good friend. She knows who she is. I love when friends send me pictures of inspiration. This piece ties in with a pond she saw somewhere in Thailand. The picture was so inspiring I worked to capture the essence of the chartreuse colors that filled the photo. When speaking about her experiences in Thailand, the air pollution was something like she had never seen before. The polluted air is horrible for the health of all individuals. While she found places of immense beauty, it really also raised awareness within herself on how much we as individuals need to make life changes to counteract The Greenhouse Effect."
Information About The Greenhouse Effect:
"Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. Normally this radiation would escape into space, but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter. These heat-trapping pollutants—specifically carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, water vapor, and synthetic fluorinated gases—are known as greenhouse gases, and their impact is called the greenhouse effect.
